Supporting Small Businesses: The Lemon Tree Candle Co.

Welcome to the eighth edition of my Supporting Small Businesses series. I would like to introduce you to The Lemon Tree Candle Co., a company born out of a lockdown pastime. Rachel and Del struggled to find a candle brand which was both reasonably priced and health-friendly, so with time on their hands and lots of researching and experimenting, they crafted their own. Well, why not?!

The Lemon Tree Candle Co. creates and sells a range of luxury hand-poured candles, wax melt pods, diffusers, hand washes and hand & body lotions.

Each Lemon Tree Candle is made from a blend of coconut and rapeseed wax as its base, a wonderful fragrance (using 100% natural fragrances and essential oils) and a braided cotton wick for a clean burn. Also, being plant-based means they are vegan-friendly and animal cruelty-free! To maintain their quality, The Lemon Tree Candles are hand-poured in small batches, so customers know great attention has been paid to the production of their products.

Based in the heart of Mid Wales, The Lemon Tree Candle Co. has utilised some quintessentially Welsh names for some of their fragrances. Names such as Cwtch, Calon Lân and Cariad conjure feelings of warmth and love. One of the more English names, Ginger Biscuit, has you wanting to sit back and relax with a cup of tea (and, of course, a biscuit!). The candles come in medium (165g) or large (220g) jars (which can be reused) in a choice of black or white, as well as in a small, silver-coloured tin (85g).

The wax melt pods are available in the same lovely fragrances as the candles. Each fragrance is available as 5 melt pods (approx. 7g each) in a gift tin or in a biodegradable glassine bag. If you can’t decide which fragrance is for you, The Lemon Tree Candle Co. do ‘Pick ‘n’ Mix’ wax melt pods. So rather than having to take a chance on a particular scent, you can try out a variety of wax melt pods at very little cost and then choose your favourite scent.

If reed diffusers are more your thing, The Lemon Tree Candle Co. has those too! Each reed diffuser comes with a 100ml glass bottle with a silver neck collar and 6 black matt reeds infused with the vegan-friendly and cruelty-free fragrance or essential oil of your choice.

With everyone’s hands suffering from all this use of hand gel and the cold winter weather, The Lemon Tree Candle Co. has also introduced hand washes and lotions to their range. These come in stylish, reusable, aluminium bottles (250g) and keep your skin soft, clean and smelling great.

Launched in November 2020, The Lemon Tree Candle Co. has already built up a good fan base. I was lucky enough to win a gift box of goodies via a giveaway on their Facebook page and I’ve been raving about them ever since.

My goodies came packaged in a lovely, crisp, white gift box with a magnet clasp and ribbon (also available to order through their website). My Lemon Tree Candle Co. goodies included a large candle in a white jar, a candle in a tin and wax melt pods, all in my chosen fragrance of Plum and Rhubarb. A “Candle Care” card was included (to ensure you enjoy and get the most out of your candles, safely), as well as a “Thank You!” card with a discount code for 10% off my next order. As soon as I pulled the ribbon and opened the gift box, the amazing fragrance of Plum and Rhubarb escaped and I hadn’t even lit the products! When lit, the scents are long-lasting and fill the room. Now, if only The Lemon Tree Candle Co. did bath melts too…

If this post has inspired you to try any of the products from The Lemon Tree Candle Co., please use NOTESOFLIFE10 to get a 10% discount off your order. This discount code is valid until midnight on 24th January 2021.

(The Lemon Tree Candle Co. currently only deliver to the UK mainland).

Please note: I won these products in a giveaway, but this has in no way influenced my opinion.

…small local businesses are having a hard time of it. I’m glad that I sold my business and retired three years ago.

A lovely review! I can’t order from them since I live in the US, but they sound like a great company. Candles that burn clean are so much nicer than regular ones.

I can assure you that if I lived in the UK, I would be placing an order. I love scented candles and these sound like top quality.

I bet Plum & Rhubarb smells heavenly!

    p.s. Your letter arrived yesterday!

  4. Wax pods I wouldn’t know what to do with but plum and rhubarb sounds wonderful. I’ve just discovered the little circles in the top right corner of the screen that mean I can share this on Twitter as I can’t buy them from Portugal.

  5. Hi Nikki,

Happy New Year to you and yours!

Wow! Rachel and Del have really gone for this venture big time. Their website is slick and classy and they have certainly got their act together before going to market.

They have been brave enough to take the plunge during lockdown too, which may have been the best move they could have made. They do say that if you can make a business work during a recession, then you stand a great chance of making a real success when times get better!

This series of posts have been amazing and it would be good to revisit some of the businesses later this year and see how many of them have survived, ready to flourish post Covid. I’ll bet you that ‘The Lemon Tree’ will be going strong 🙂

Thanks for sharing and I hope that the new job is going well 🙂

How wonderful that they opened the business while in lockdown. The candles look lovely. I don’t know Welsh, so I think I would pick up the flavours according to what they contain. 🙂
Lovely of you to share these on your blog.

I never cease to be impressed by the people who took a large lump of coal, in this case the pandemic, and managed to create a useful businesses for themselves. That’s the very definition of resilience. The products look lovely and very professional too.

Oh, I wish I could support them, but there is not a scented candle on the planet that does not trigger a migraine. Which is insane because there is no limit to the quantity of old-fashioned insence sticks I can get through . . .
    I wish them every success.

  13. Aimsy says:

Oh, I bet these smell amazing…plum and rhubarb, fab! I love hearing a bit of background on smaller business, and you know with the smaller batches that they make, that they will ensure each one is right!
I may just have to check them out and see what I can purchase!
