InCoWriMo is now less than a week away. Are you ready?!

Being organised will mean you’re more likely to complete the whole month of InCoWriMo (if you missed what InCoWriMo is, check out my A Letter Every Day post). Don’t leave everything until the last minute. Plan now and be ready come 1st February.

So what do you need?

Something to write with

My writing implement of choice is a fountain pen. I have quite a few to choose from, so I guess it’ll depend on how I feel on that particular day. The great thing about fountain pens is the sheer amount of ink out there to choose from… The wonderful Diamine Shimmering Inks are just a small example.

I am also hoping to get to grips with a dip pen because I have some special ink to use. Glow-in-the-dark ink! I haven’t a clue what I’m going to write with it yet, though!

Something to write on

I like to write my letters on Clairefontaine Triomphe writing paper because it’s smooth and takes fountain pen ink well. I’ll also be sending some postcards and greeting cards. You can find touristy postcards locally or try stationers such as Paperchase for some fun postcards. (Tip: Check out Etsy for some more unique postcards!).

If you’re writing letters or notes, you’ll also need…

Envelopes

You can use plain old white or brown envelopes and maybe decorate them (or leave them plain, you decide!). If you’re feeling crafty, you could make your own envelopes using all kinds of paper and templates. I haven’t handmade envelopes in years, so I might just have a go at it this weekend.

Postage

Unless you are hand-delivering, you’ll need some kind of postage. You could go with standard stamps, but why not source some nice looking stamps such as special edition ones? I’ve picked up some 1st class stamps featuring quotes from Shakespeare’s plays for when I send mail to my friend’s here in the UK.

IMPORTANTLY, someone to write to!

If you’re in love with that special someone, you could write all 28 InCoWriMo letters, postcards, greeting cards or notes to that one person, but InCoWriMo is a challenge and I think it’s more challenging to find different people to write to.

I’ve set-up a spreadsheet listing who I’ll be writing to and what I’ll be sending (letter, postcard etc). I’ll be writing to friends, penpals and other InCoWriMo participants. If you’re struggling to find people to write to, check out my previous InCoWriMo post.
