Christmas day is fast approaching and I think I’m ready for it. There’s a couple of deliveries I’m waiting for (a bit last minute, I know!) and the turkey to collect, but otherwise we’re ready. As my Mum says… “If we haven’t got it we’ll just have to do without!”.
Tomorrow, Christmas Eve, I’ll spend the day with my niece and nephew. We unwrap presents, play games and track Santa online. It won’t be long before they’ll be too old for tracking Santa, but hopefully they’ll still want to spend time with their favourite auntie!
I spend Christmas Day itself with my parents and grandparents. My grandparents are in their 90’s, so I treasure every Christmas I get to spend with them. We have a big turkey dinner with all the trimmings (my favourite meal of the year!), pull crackers and have a good time. In the evening, the Scrabble board comes out. We used to play Draughts (Checkers), but one year I beat Dad 8/1 and I don’t think we’ve played it since!
Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I’ve either been busy with work or tired with no energy. I do, however, promise to be more active in the new year. I already have a couple of posts which just need the finishing touches, and, of course, there’s my usual review of the year to put up before the end of 2019.

I’ve tried to become flexible over the years (a necessity when you start figuring in in-laws and grandchildren…and sometimes divorce). Our big celebration was to be today, but due to sickness, it’s been split apart. So I guess I’ll be celebrating again later in the week!
I hope you enjoy all your events. Yes, treasure it ALL! We never know what the future holds!

We’ve already tested the Scrabble board. A bit early, I realise. I suppose our trip around the UK started early again this year. Zig-zaggy Exeter, London, Cheltenham, Essex, Newcastle and finally back to Topsham! Today was stocking up a cheese board and acquiring a few extra ’emergency’ chocolates.

It sounds like you’ll be enjoying a wonderful Christmas. There was always excitement in our house when the children were little and we tracked Santa, in fact, I think I was more excited than them. I’m also waiting for a couple of deliveries. Everything is wrapped, so tomorrow will be a clean up day before we entertain everyone here on Boxing Day. We are having about 18 people so the house should be full.

I know what you mean about posting at Christmas! It’s a crazy time. That’s why I archived Christmas posts this year — no one has a chance to read them when they pop because everyone’s crazy busy. I love that you can celebrate with your grandparents. Having the generations is really powerful. We pull crackers too. I love it!

i tracked santa on my plane finder app and my youngest child is 20, never too old for santa. We eat out for christmas dinner as it’s just the two of us, we exchange gifts in the morning and that’s about the extent of our christmas traditions.
