Kiefer Sutherland – Reckless Tour 2018

Kiefer Sutherland – Reckless Tour 2018

Thursday, 28th June 2018 – A year and two days after rocking Gorilla, Kiefer Sutherland was back in Manchester, this time rocking the Albert Hall.

Wait… Kiefer Sutherland? Rocking? Yes, you read that right! The Hollywood actor well known for films such as The Lost Boys (my favourite!), Flatliners, Young Guns and Phone Booth, as well as epic TV shows, 24, and most recently, Designated Survivor, takes to the music stage like he owns it. His country album, Down in a Hole debuted in 2016, and somehow he’s managed to add another string to his bow.

Supported by Rick Brantley, Kiefer and his band brought the Reckless tour to Manchester, a city home to many music greats. A somewhat daunting prospect, but he’d been here before. If members of the crowd hadn’t heard his music beforehand, they had certainly loved what they heard by the time the last notes fill the former Wesleyan chapel.

Unfortunately, some of the crowd must have only been there for the Hollywood star rather than to see him perform because I could hear quite a number of people behind me (and very near the bar) chatting throughout the first half of the gig. So annoying and very rude… If you want a few pints and inane football chatter, go to a pub! (Rant over!)

Kiefer put on such a great show and really got the audience going. He is a wonderful storyteller and chats between songs, many of which he admits are about bars and drinking! He even brings a glass of whisky to the stage.

Eagerly awaiting the next album, I headed to the merchandise stall after the gig and picked up a copy of Kiefer’s limited edition, four-track EP – Reckless & Me. Seriously, if you’ve not heard his music, head over to YouTube and give it a listen.

On a side note: My day was made before the gig even started! In the heat of the afternoon, Kiefer kindly came to see us in the queue. He took time to sign autographs and have photos taken with everyone who waited. A true gentleman!

You’ve had a great time lately with your musical shows! I’m glad this one was good and will keep that in mind as I think he’s scheduled to come here sometime in the fall. I rarely go to live performances, but maybe I should for this.

I find it interesting how many actors have a successful parallel career in music. Kevin Costner has performed here and those who’ve seen him said he was very good.

  2. I checked out a few of the YouTube tracks and have to admit that I enjoyed some of them much more than others, although overall they made for very easy listening.

It definitely changed my perception of the man, as until now I have only ever thought of Kiefer Sutherland the actor, following in the footsteps of his father, Donald. You mentioned a few of the many films he has starred in, but I also have memories of ‘Unforgiven’, where father and son appeared together

Live music and entertainment is always so much better, as the atmosphere helps to make a good show. Although like yourself, I can’t stand people who talk constantly throughout, when it is the kind of event where to do so is inappropriate. It is most rude and the offenders should definitely be asked to leave.

It certainly looks as though the father / daughter day was a great success and I am pleased that you had a good time.

Thanks for sharing, great pictures as always 🙂

Now, that would be so incredibly cool! And getting to meet him, too! I’ve heard him sing and I’d love that concert. Sounds like he is a generous performer as well. (Don’t you hate rude audiences? Ugh!)

    Thanks for visiting me!

It sounds like a lot of fun. I’ve enjoyed Kiefer in his acting roles through the old days of 24 and more recently Designated Survivor. I knew he was also a muso although until your video clips hadn’t sen him perform. Cool to get that photo too!

  5. Oh my God I didn’t know he sung as well! I like Kiefer Sutherland a lot and enjoy his movies 🙂 It’s always annoying when there’s people chatting a lot and ruining the experience for others.

What an exciting experience. It was a shame those people talked, but overall it seems like you’ve had a wonderful time. Very nice of him to come and sign autographs and take pictures before the show.

I lose track of the stars in bands, I only seem to remember Kevin Bacon. Glad he put on a good show, I bet he loves this more than acting. Albert Hall, wow, impressive. Inane chatter rather than watching the show, I have no patience for it.
