Time’s Convert – Book Review

Time’s Convert – Book Review

Today I am leaving you in the capable hands of my lovely friend Glyn, who has kindly reviewed Time’s Convert by Deborah Harkness, a spin-off from the best-selling All Souls Trilogy.

—————

Time's Convert by Deborah HarknessFans of Deb Harkness’ previous books have been waiting four years for the next novel in the world of All Souls and I don’t think many will be disappointed with Time’s Convert. However, the pace is far gentler as the constant threat and tension of the first three books has been replaced by memories, self-reflection, new experiences and beginnings.

Away from Marcus, Phoebe is preparing for, then going through an almighty transformation in her existence with all the challenges that brings, while her fiance fears that with these changes the love of his life may feel very differently about him. When staying with Matthew, Diana, the twins and his vampire family in France, he begins to reminisce about his early life, the beginnings of his passion for healing, his human family and the consequences of his actions. These ultimately lead him away from home, into war and finally into the path of Matthew Clairmont. This leads to his own metamorphosis and the ongoing learning curve of being a vampire. Full circle back to Phoebe.

As with Shadow of Night, Deb Harkness breathes life into an historical era on two continents, weaving the fiction into the facts with skill and giving the reader a greater insight into the early development of a popular character. There are (briefly) others from the past, who will be undoubtedly be welcomed back, one or two we haven’t yet met and new developments in current characters which will definitely leave the reader eagerly awaiting the next instalment.

I’m one of them.

Please note: Headline Publishing supplied a copy of Time’s Convert in return for an honest review, but this has in no way influenced Glyn’s opinion.

I’ve not read any from this series. I kind of got my fill of vampire related stories awhile back, but this sounds like an interesting take on them. I’ll keep it in mind.

Thanks for the review, I see it’s only available as a preorder as an ebook which is my favorite way to. But I’m going to check out the earlier ones on Kindle, you made it sound worth a sample download.

I don’t know the author, as I usually read other genres. I do like the cover though, it looks like something I might pick up if I was looking for some fiction.
