It’s not often I fall in love with a notebook… OK, who am I kidding?! I love all things stationery! However, when I saw the Field Notes “Lunacy” Limited Edition Pocket Memo Books for Fall 2016, I just knew I had to have them. I even went as far as pre-ordering them!
The aptly named “Lunacy” notebooks began as a basic concept to celebrate the Harvest Moon and it flourished from there. Each of the 3 books features a die-cut showing a phase of the moon – crescent moon, half moon and full moon.
The embossed black cover has a leather-like look and feel to it. The front cover features an embossed Field Notes logo with a subtle hint of varnish and the die-cut shows the glossy moon beneath. The back cover features the full moon embossed. The books are bound with black stapes and the 48 inner pages are a very light grey and feature a reticle grid. But that’s not all…
The “Lunacy” books also feature many facts about the moon such as its orbital speed, axial tilt, radius, circumference, surface area, a list of humans who have visited the mood (sadly, the only human to visit the moon since the early 1970’s is Dr Eugene Shoemaker and that was in the form of his ashes aboard Lunar Prospector in 1999) and much, much more. There is also a handy mini guide on how to kill a werewolf and how to avoid becoming one!
The dimensions of the Field Note Memo Books are 89mm x 140mm. The perfect size for my Traveller’s Journal… However, these “Lunacy” books are so nice, I’m not sure I could bare to write in them! I may just have to purchase another set, just so I can keep one set perfect… but I’ll have to be quick… These are limited edition!

Hi Nikki, I’m not surprised they sold out at Pocket Notebooks they are brilliant! I just followed your link to Field Notes and think they are still available there. I know my daughter in law will love these, she loves everything stationery! I’m going to email her a link to your post, so she can come over and take a look. Happy Halloween.
Just the right timing — been thinking of getting new notepads but something unique, and these look great!
These look really cool, I love the special touch about the werewolf as well!

They’re lovely. I think they’d be ideal for my son, he’s just completed his Physics with Astrophysics degree so they’d be very appropriate for him.
I love these and can totally understand why you’d hate to write in them! I’m a bit of a science geek and have always loved astronomy, so I think I’ll check out the link you show for US orders.
I’ve just been to the Field Notes site and had a heyday. Too bad they don’t pay you a commission! 😉
oh gosh these notebooks are lovey! If my husband took note I would totally get these for him!
Hi Nikki,
I’m another stationery geek, especially when it comes to pens and notebooks, although I will make notes in just about anything I can get my hands on, when I am reading a book. Making notes in a Kindle book just doesn’t cut it for me, so I always have pen and paper to hand, just in case!
Volunteering in the charity shop has its up side when it comes to feeding my fetishes, as we often get some amazing note books donated, that I would never find anywhere else. I picked up a couple of Australian made note books just the other week, which look as though they must have been an unwanted gift at some time in the past. They are so nice and unique though, that I am actually loathe to write in them!
I hope that now you have two sets of your ‘Field Notes’ books, you will make good use of the everyday set, as you plot your next few posts 🙂

I love getting new notebooks! I got a Leuchtturm 1951 for bullet journaling recently and I’ll be buying a bunch more in colors! These are really cute!
Oh how cool are those?! I really like the different moon phases! I’m a notebook junkie so I can appreciate that!!
