Delicious Alchemy Oaty Cookies

After writing my Delicious Alchemy Chocolate Brownie & Swedish Glace Vanilla Ice Cream post, I was lucky enough to be contacted by Delicious Alchemy with the offer of being sent some samples in return for an honest review. Of course, I snapped up the offer and was swiftly sent a box of goodies. What follows is the next post in a series of reviews about Delicious Alchemy Gluten & Dairy Free products.

Delicious Alchemy Oaty CookiesIt’s not easy to find nice gluten-free and dairy-free cookies or biscuits, yet in one bag Delicious Alchemy provide most of the ingredients to make some delicious, yet gluten and dairy-free, cookies. You just need to add 75g of unsalted butter or dairy-free alternative and 30ml of water. As with other Delicious Alchemy products, it really is a simple recipe.

After melting together the butter (or rather the dairy-free alternative) and water, I mixed it in with the oaty cookie mix. I decided to throw some dairy-free chocolate in too, but you can have them plain or add something like dried fruit or nuts into the mix to make them that extra bit special.

After shaping the mix into ten cookies, I put them into the pre-heated oven for roughly 18 minutes and began my impatient wait for them to bake. Once baked, they also need to cool before they can be sampled.

Delicious Alchemy Oaty CookiesSo were these Delicious Alchemy Oaty Cookies worth the wait? They certainly were! The cookies were just the right consistency and weren’t too crumbly. I haven’t had cookies in such a long time, but these were a joy to eat.

The real test, however, is to get a non-free-from foodie to try them. Without telling him they’re gluten and dairy-free, I offered Dad a cookie and asked what he thought. He said it was very nice and, when I owned up to them being gluten and dairy-free, he said he’d have never known if I hadn’t told him.

A winner all round, I think. I’m not quite sure ten will be enough, though!

These look delicious as do the brownies from the earlier post. I’m not sure why they list an egg allergy warning, though.

Fortunately I don’t have a gluten allergy so I can still bake with flour. However, in an effort to avoid some of the more processed types, I’ve branched out and experimented with things like spelt flour and oat flour. I love the texture spelt brings to things!

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I’m not sure on the egg allergy warning. Maybe it’s somewhere in the flavouring? Thanks for dropping by here too 🙂

  3. Hi Nikki,

I have to admit that I have never tried anything gluten free other than pre-packed sliced white bread and that tasted like dry cardboard to me!

Your cookies do look lovely and moist though and having quite a sweet tooth, I could probably manage to eat them without too many problems 🙂

I have a couple of friends who are gluten free and they are always on the lookout for new recipes to try, so I shall copy this one out and give it to them.

It is also good that you can throw in random additional treats, just to add a bit more interest.

    Have a good weekend 🙂

Hi Yvonne, it’s been such a long time since I’ve been able to eat cookies… These were such a joy to make and eat. Gluten free bread can be hit and miss… Genius and Warburton’s are the best gluten-free breads I’ve found so far. However, I have a gluten free bread mix from Delicious Alchemy to try out. So watch this space!

Sounds delicious. Though not allergic myself one of the members of my reading group has to follow a gluten free diet so we regularly get to try these type of things. Not a product she has ever mentioned, I’ll be sure to let her know.
